Top 10 Secondary Schools (2011 – Uganda)
We are pleased to announce our Top 10 Secondary Schools in Uganda for 2011. This years Kings College Budo and Uganda Marytrs S.S. Namugongo again both sought the number position with Kings winning out. Great work to both schools.
This year will welcome three new schools to our top 10, they are Mt. St. Mary’s College Namagunga, St. Mary’s College, Kisubi and Ntare School.
Readers will also note the addition of an honorable mention section. These four, although not making the official top ten list are deserving of mention for their strong performance. We are pleased to include Busoga College Mwiri, along with the three others, to the list and commend them all for good years.
Each of these 14 schools are now included in our online Poll for 2012. VOTE NOW for 2012. This poll helps us assess public perception surrounding a school. Top 10 Secondary Schools (2011 – Uganda)
- is one of the leading mixed boarding secondary schools in Uganda. Located in the Kibuli suburb in Kampala, the Muslim faith-based but non-sectarian school sits on one of Kampala’s seven hills, Kibuli Hill enjoying a reputation as a leading academic centre with a rich history of sporting achievements.
- a boys boarding only shool located in Mukono district is one of the oldest Secondary School in Uganda, founded on 23rd March 1902 by the Mill Hill Missionary Fathers who had come to Uganda in 1895
- Christian missionaries belonging to the Church Missionary Society of England founded Gayaza High School in January 1905 with four students. By July 1905, the number of students had grown to 43. The land was donated to the Church then by Kabaka Chwa II.
- is a prestigious school in Uganda, which shares a campus with Makerere University. It was established in 1945 to provide teaching practice for students at the University’s School of Education. It is a day school with boarding facilities.
6. Ntare School
- is a boys’ boarding secondary school located in Mbarara District, South Western Uganda with both Ordinary and Advanced levels. It ranks among the prominent schools in the country, both in academic performance and popularity.
List of FREE UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS – CLICK HERE
- ‘SMACK’ as it is popularly known, ranks first among its equals. Founded in 1906 by the Brothers of Christian Instruction, with Roman Catholic roots, the school celebrated its centenary in 2006. It has consistently produced well-balanced individuals in every professional discipline in the Arts, the Sciences, Business and Politics.

2. Uganda Marytrs S.S. Namugongo
- We have been given the impetus to become the leading private secondary school in the country, posting excellent results in the national examinations. At Namugongo we are moving from a good school to a great family of God as we struggle to maintain our culture of academic excellence. The school’s aims and objectives are; to pass out academically excellent students, who are God fearing and imbued with leadership skills. On the academic front our students pass their ‘Ordinary’ and ‘Advanced’ level examinations with distinction.
- Admission to King’s College Budo is through a selective process based on merit rom the Primary Leaving Examination (P.L.E) results for the Senior One and Uganda Certificate of Education (U.C.E) results for the Senior Five, records and recommendation from previous school.
