 Top 10 Secondary Schools in Uganda

We are pleased to announce our Top 10 Secondary Schools in Uganda. This year Uganda Marytrs  S.S. Namugongo edged out Mt. St. Mary’s College Namagunga for the number position. Great work to both schools.

This year will welcome three new schools to our top 10, they are:

  1. Ntale High School
  2. Trinity College Nabbingo
  3. Maryhill Secondary School

This year we have also expanded our honorable mention section. These ten schools, although not making the official top ten list are deserving of mention for their strong performance.  We are pleased to includethem all to the list and commend them all for good years.

Each of these 20 schools are now included in our online Poll.

10. St. Henry’s College Kitovu

  • A Boys Private School in Masaka – P.O BOX 64 Masaka

9. Maryhill Secondary School

  • An all girls education center, where learning is self-knowing and self development of each ‘girl child’ who passes through the hands this all embracing and loving mother school.

8. Trinity College Nabbingo

  • A private girls school in Wakiso – PO Box 25818 Kampala

7.  Ntale High School

  • A private girls school in Wakiso – PO Box 57 Mbarara

6. Kings College, Budo

  • Admission to King’s College Budo is through a selective process based on merit on the Primary Leaving Examination (P.L.E) results for the Senior One and Uganda Certificate of Education (U.C.E) results for the Senior Five, records and recommendation from previous school.

5. Gayaza High School

  • Christian missionaries belonging to the Church Missionary Society of England founded Gayaza High School in January 1905 with four students. By July 1905, the number of students had grown to 43. The land was donated to the Church then by Kabaka Chwa II.

4. Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School

  • A private girl’s school in Kampala District from senior one to six.

3. St. Mary’s College, Kisubi

  • ‘SMACK’ as it is popularly known, ranks first among its equals. Founded in 1906 by the Brothers of Christian Instruction, with Roman Catholic roots, the school celebrated its centenary in 2006. It has consistently produced well-balanced individuals in every professional discipline in the Arts, the Sciences, Business and Politics.

On the academic front our students pass their ‘Ordinary’ and ‘Advanced’ level examinations with distinction.

    People are disappointed really do better research ate update your rankings where are the private schools like Bishop Cipriano, Namugoongo you know this is rare. PERIOD!!!!

    I would like to express my disappointment in your website. You need to get information from credible sources. I am no journalist but I am 101% sure I would give you better information (a lot more accurate than what you published here). For instance you claim that ” 7. Ntale High School
    is A private girls school in Wakiso – PO Box 57 Mbarara” is absolute Rubbish!
    As far as I know, Ntare School (it is NOT Ntale High School!!!) is a Government aided boy school founded in 1956 and is located in Mbarara district (not wakiso district)
    And by the way Ntare has never been a ‘new comer’ as you allege, it has always been one of the best in the country.

    i’ve wondered schools which where no were to be heard for the past five yrs lyk shack being on da list en xuls lyk bweranyangi girls being not on the list. bravo ntare school for the performance but we want by this to be on the top

    how can schools like macos(makerere college) which have been exhibiting poor excellence 4 the past 4 years be on the list and mengo s.s is missing? Revise ur list please.

    well…it’s always been schools like Seeta high,Namilyango college and the likes but I think Buloba high has as well proved to be one of the best schools in Uganda and hopefully second to none in 5 yrs time. let us not focus on the most sounding but also the least espected schools
