SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NIGERIANS:

Louisville Abuja should be the 5th position.
I appreciate your work. Kindly let me know the criteria you use to assess and rank your schools. It may be wise to publish such criteria so as to help these schools appreciate what they are doing right, and/or guide other schools towards school improvement and efficiency.
Hopebay college deserves to be among the list.
Our Lady&St Francis Catholic College,Osogbo,Osun State was sometimes ago(precisely year 2004-2005)published in d PUNCH newspaper to be among d top 10 secondary schools in Nigeria, amidst Loyola Jesuit college, but I cannot find it/probably I did not search for it well enough, pls kindly look into it,OSCCO deserves to still retain its position on d list.tanx in anticipation.
So this site still made saint gregory’s college stand in that same fifth position, lol,u are right bout 1 tin gregs is amongst the best schools in nigeria, but dey shld b the first,im glad holy child made it
Iganmode grammar school,Ogun state has carved a niche for herself in Nigeria despite the fact that she’s a state owned school and a public school.for this i think she should be listed among the top ten best schools in Nigeria.ie top ten best public schools in Nigeria just like the likes of mayflower,B.B.H.S e.t.c.
Like Nweke said what’s your criteria? You can’t just list 10 popular schools. Is is their WAEC? or extra-curricular learning? Moral standards? Chances of University admission? Percentile probability of future academic excellence?
Please give us standards because i refuse to send my child to a school just because it is popular, expensive, has the best facilities or is the place where everyone who knows someone is going.
county grammar school, ikwerre etche, rivers state is supposed to be one among the best schools in nigeria, but i wonder why such name is not seen in the list,so make a proper research of the schools in nigeria, especially in the rural areas before you make your judgement and the criterias should be published so as to encourage the up~coming schools in country.
Actually you may publish the criaterials used in ranking the schools so the schools ranked may appreciate their efforts and the others may improve .
thoese school are worth it.
why is it that grace land not among
what of charles dale they passed cambrige and harvard university isnt it good enough abeg put it there
It seems you people are bias, if not why on earth you didn’t mention New Horizons College, Minna among the leading 10 schools in Nigeria ? A school that is currently leading both in academic, morals and religious value or is it because it is not located in Abuja or Lagos ?
seriously do u guyz actaully mean wat u r writin or it is based on d popularity of d school.like nweke sed wat is ur criteria so we undastand cus i neo loads of skulls beta dan wat u av listed here……………..kmt
BCA should be first
Emmy norberton international secondary school should be the first.they have being so outstanding in all compitions and also making record beyoud nigeria.CHECH THIS OUT…
i think IGBOBI COLLEGE should be rated among the top ten in NIGERIA
pls i want to know the criteria used to rate the schools.I want my child have the best education.i maen the best in all aspects not name or popularity or location. He is intelligent nd i dont want to waste his pottencials.
It does not matter which school is the best in Nigeria, all that matters is the quality and depth of education, moral and culture they introduce to their students cognitive, psychomotorly and affectively, in making them respectable and worthy citizens of the country!
ithink louisville in ogun state should be there
loyola is first, that’s for sure!
dis z d worst ranking i’ve senn…cnt bliv dis….dose dat ranked dese schls re fools.
OAUIS should be put into consideration in the next school rating
christ the king odolewu where u dey
This is just fantastic. The Awardees deserved it but please, try to include Rochas Foundation College in your next ranking. The school is very nice to an extent that Universities are admitting all their candidates yearly. They are also among the leading schools in both internal and external academic competition, Upon the school is free (sponsord by Rochas Okorocha,) it havent affected it’s academic standard. Pls, look into it.
The rating is in order but for the fact that Rainbow College is conspicously not in the list makes a mockery of the exercise. Rainbow College stands out for what it is. Find convenience to visit them at http://www.rainbowcollege.org
in ranking of schools, if school like w.M BRISTOW SECONDARY SCHOOL is not mention then, that ranking is incorrect please.
pls where is FEDERAL GOVT.COLLOEGE LAGOS IJANIKIN?
i think dis list is completely unacceptable and has been badly put together.
How come Babington macaulay junior seminary,Chrisland college, and Olasore and Corona schools are not on this list.
I think this list should be thoroughly and carefully reviewed.
i totally agree with oluwadunni babingtin macaulay junior seminary should be on the list not some random schools like queens college and st.gregorys.
why wud sum1 call qc n gregs a random skul…. Plz dis rating is perfect… Up gregs
I think this list is good because in Nigeria people think its all about academics, but in thre modern day world you require a whole lot more- a well rounded education- which most of the schools on the list provide.
Every 1 luv his/her school bcos humans are selfish in nature. However, it’s obvious dt de only way 2 produce credible n competent future leaders in al ramification is by makin des schools 2 educate deir studnts wholestically n i.e what MBHS n MGHS stands 4
Anyway, u cant just ignore a prestigious school like Methodist Boys’ High School who gave nigeria her first president, lagos state her first governor n many distinguish achievers in all works of life across the globe. MBHS all the way! NON SIBI…..
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! were is madonna????????????????????????????
k.c is just the best…..kings college for life…
vivian fpwler will continue to be among the best
Now we can’t leave Gloryland Int’l college behind, come on it’s one of those.
hey i think dat list is puurrfect!well if lyk 1 means asin numba one den ljc(loyola jesuit college)sure deserves it!
Going by WAEC and NECO records, only few of the secondary schools are in the list. The current best secondary school in the country based on their students performance is Lumen Chritsi International High School, Uromi, Edo state based on its students perfomance in the 2009 WASSCE to which the school recently received an awrad in Kaduna. The school won same award in 2007 while Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja won the award in 2008.
Also, based on WAEC results, the best candidate in the WASSCE is from Lagoon Secondary School, Lagos and the second best candidate is from Suleja Academy, Niger state. So, how did they arrive at the so called top ten secondary schools? Is based on fees paid, or beautiful building/environment, big grammar the students speaks or the location of the schools. Even in NECO, some of the schools are not there in terms of their students performance. Check The Sun Newspapers Education page in December and early January for the best schools.
This list will stand the test of time but let us know the clear criteria for objectivity.
where is federal government college lagos, its meant 2 be number 1
where is federal government college lagos, its meant 2 be number 1, we have represented nigeria several times
Seriously speaking we really do not know d criteria 4 dis placement but the C.M.S. Grammar School should be among d first five on list.Up School!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Up Boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hello do you know any university
I just want to know why Goverment secondry school Umuahia was not mention among the top ten secondry schools in Nigeria, while it was mentioned in the top 50 best secondry school in Africa ranked in 47 and comed first from Nigeria schools, so I don’t see this rank to be correct.
i think a review has to be done.but some schools like methodist boys high school, ronik group of school etc.
I agree with some of the contributors. What are the criteria used for selecting the schools? Is it the high tuition fees paid by the parents or the seemingly window-dressing of the learning environment? I beg your pardon-the quality of the products turn out consistently yearly should top the list. The School you are looking for is Soundhope Private Academy, Ipaja- a microcosm of Nigerian society.
the list can’t be complete without the addition of jefap international school
I want to tell all the student that you should please read your book, don’t play too much, and anything your teacher teach you and you did not understand, please and please go back to them. behave like a well trained student, don’t allow play to be more than the books you read. stay away from bad friends, don’t fight in the school premises. i want you to no that it is not all the people in this world that have the kind of opportunity you have, please use your opportunity well. and please let your parents be proud of you anytime, anywhere.
stay away from bad guys, don’t go around with bad boys and girls.and the last but not the list is that be straight forward.
i pray almighty God will be with you anywhere you are. you will be successful in mighty name of God.
And please don’t forget praying is the most compulsory thing of all, either you are a Muslim or a christian pray to your God.
I no God will surely be with you.
please be a good example of your country.
were is caleb
I think Louisville Girls High School should be on the list because I know that whatever standard being used Louisville is very much capable.
i think ois should be part of them the school is quality
the list is on d fence.seriously speaking the first and the best secondary school, which is c.m.s grammar school is meant to be there. Please this list should be reviewed. This school has all it takes to be on the list.Parents should put their children in this school if they really love them. Make way for the one and only c.m.s grammar school.
UP BOYS, TRUEST FAME
LIES IN HIGH ENDEAVOUR
PLAY THE GAME
KEEP THE FLAME
BURNING HIGHLY EVER. UP SCHOOL……………. UP BOYS
As someone already told you.I appreciate your efforts but kindly publish the criteria used to award the schools.IF NOT DON~T YOU SEE BRISTOW?
I dont know about all the other schools much, and i feel that perhaps some that should have been mentioned are left out, but clearly based on performance in both the JSCE and SSCE loyola takes it hands down. its pioneer set graduated in 2002 and since then they have failed to claim the prize only 3 times. also look at their history in the cow bell math competitions. in J.A.M.B they have produced the highest score in Nigeria on at least 3 occasions since 2002. Tye thing is loyola is not only about academics. They thrive in sports as well. they partake in various national competitions and they have produced a handful of students who gained sports scholarships to universities abroad. then you have the quality of education which is top notch, the quality of their class rooms, hostels, infrastructure (clinic, dinning hall, campus roads). and of course their campus overall is quite a sight. the students are comfortable and disciplined. Loyola strives to put all its students on equal ground despite their background, something a lot of schools fail at doing. you have a lot of rich kids looking down on kids who have less, seniors taking provisions from juniors in the name of “discipline”. students beating students. you will hardly ever find that there, but the respect between rich/poor, senior/junior is still there.
It will appear as a suprise that union secondary school Okposhi Ngbo in Ebonyi State will be the best if only the chance is given to them on the appropriate date set for the examination and their names will be published on daily news papers.
baptist high school kubwa abuja needs to be here
let say d list isnt complete if dey mention st. Thomas aquinas college in dis country,no doubt abt it,it is d best school unless u want 2 put sentiment
I will be happy if you are able to publish the criterial to select them.Essy Gold International School at 14 Emmanuel High Street,Ogudu GRA,Lagos is one of the best school in Lagos. In term of character, moral, discipline and academy. We are number one.We can’t base on cognitive domain alone but psychomotor and affective domain should be involved.Great Essy Gold.
what position is corona sec. sch.agbara? What is the criteria for grading/rating the schools?
Can sum1 tell me y d college of. Champions is not there, the pride of nigeria DOREGOS
PRIVATE ACADEMY
if you want to choose the best secondary school in Nigeria it doesn’t av to be only from Lagos there are other secondary school that are good even better than the ones you have given. you are just using judgemental sampling method which is not the method if you it is to be used as something concrete. So you have to use gather information on as many as possible.
am disappointed about this list, there are so many better schools in nigeria and the names are not here, and there are some schools that are not deserving that their names are here, i really need to know the criteria used in compiling this list, the list has to be recompiled.
Dowen college should be 6th position, and Broke stone should be 7th position.
logos international seconary school, should be first i guess, why? Because they are the best in academic excellence and Godliness of the youth.
This is just not perfect. You guys posting this things here are doing it based on your own observation. St christopher junior seminary 3-3, nsugbe, Anambra and Dennis memorial grammar school, Onitsha is among the top ten schools if I’m to say
Lagos state model college kankon is not there which is mean to be
Well all is well and good but “salutation to the one who knows the implication of doing things”and moreso not howfar but how well.
dowen college shuld be like number three and some schools that are mentioned aRE new to me
D ivy where ar u first school in west africa for ib and alevel
Foundation model college ikirun should be among twenty…guess right u can check it out..
I think government girls’ science secondary school, kuje Abuja should be among the best top 10, because it has produced best students both in SSCE and JSCE also it is the best (selected) junior secondary students that continue there.
I think Trinity Int. College should be 2nd among the top 10 secondary school.
Please, which school in ondo state is part of the ranking in nigeria and also in africa.also where is oyemekun grammar school, acquinas college akure,st loius grammar school akure and fiwasaye grammar school akure
gud
what of el-amin international school minna?is it because is in minna not abuja or lagos
UNISEC!!!! EXCELLENCE THROUGH HONEST LABOUR ,let me remind you all that University of Nigeria Secondary school Nsukka has made Nigeria proud on many occasions ,producing the best chemistry and further maths students in the WAEC SSCE exams for 2008 and many other reference points.this is just the tip of the ice-berg.compared to other achievements
So i know we are supposed to be there.
UNISEC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXCELLENCE THROUGH HONEST
CHECK IT OUT< CONSIDER IT<(WE ARE THE BEST)ALTHOUGH NOTHING ON EARTH IS PERFECT, NOT EVEN US
I LOVE NIGERIA
i tot kc wont be dere we would hav seud dis site
I will also wish BIRCH FREEMAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL will also be there someday 2011/2012 section.
I personally would be among them.
Dat is not fair wiv e rankin. Where will t place ekosodin delapidated comprehensive high sch ugbowo Behind uniben benin city. Producin the best pigeon language student in nigeria?
Dis is clearly sentimental rankin…hw many great Nigerians r 4rm dis skuls? Public n less xpensive skuls r d best in 9ja…e.g ihima comunity sec skul in Kogi st8.
d rankn is not really bad but for d fact dat rainbow college is not in dr means its crap….infact I wuld lyk 2 kno d criteria dey r based on,,;:…….if its in terms of structure check out d new rainbow college permanent site asese maba along Lagos ibadan express way…:…..if its in terms of academics check out d waec result @51 jhonson street bode thomas surulere…………for more enquiries go to 51 jhonson str off’ bodethomas surulere….or visit us online http://www.rainbowcollege.org
Tans man 4ur reseach. But what’s statistical tool(s) did you used in ur rating? It’s either d tools where faulty or you probably did not covered entire Nigeria in ur area of study. There’s need 4 detail and unbias assessment to avoid lopsided and missleading info. However,’ten top best skuls’ is relative, personal and of course ambigous.
Iganmode Grammar school ota is da bomb…….,.,..,……………..,………….
ok
Thanks for publishing the list we can now set our bomb especially at THS ovwian aladja this is the critera 8as,5 bullets 7as,4 bullets 6as,3 bullets when nigeria has not produced any science inventor what is the importance of being the best in nigeria?
Baptist acad. is d best skwul in naija.
Lol, everybody wants d sch dey went to/wished dey had gone 2 to be on d list. Tryna compile dis kind of list (expecting accuracy) for a country like Nigeria with thousands of secondary sounds rily funny. The funniest of them all is dat queen college consisting of 90% corrupt students made it to d list. I ??laugh hard
Good observation, have you forgotten the real school and the much thanks school in jigawa state that is KAFIN HAUSA SCINECE SECONDARY SCHOOL JIGAWA STATE in Nigeria pls. make sure you look at its performence since establisment of the school.
U real realise that there is no good school apart from it.
you folks forgot the no.1 place to be in Nigeria BABINGTON MACAULAY JUNIOR SEMINARY thats school ranks top 3 if we generally rate west african examination council (WAEC) examinations in Nigeria so please re run a check THANKS A LOT
let me see the fee
thec school fee will determine which is the most expensive, becouse i think british international,f.kennedy
i think that when ranking the most important things to look into is students morals followed by the academic performance of the school both within the school and national competitions when all this considered i think there must be mistake somewhere because AUSTICA MEMORIAL COLLEGE NANKA should be ranked first.
This site is really helping Nigeria schools because the schools are really working to be best but please there is a school that need to be among this list(DOREGOS PRIVATE ACADEMY)also called *The Pride Of Nigeria*because of it greatness.I will realy appreciate it if my request is granted.
This annual report will help Nigerians to know about their improve in standard of Education. Once again, HAPPY INDEPENDENT! my Naija people.
Happy! Happy!! Independent that will be celebrated in some couple of days. Am so proud of school cos we are topping the list.
why is it that Obamoruf Ojoola Junior High Sch. not amoung
yeah…..where is caleb,magodo?
The ranking is good, but what is saint gregs and holy child doing there? Up kc! Floreat!!!
what about chrisland school it should be atleast part of the first 10 best schools in Lagos.
It has high stangards
Wel,as much as i kinda respect d list, i tink those in charge should consider getin competisn scabs. Wit d likes of Homat private schools nd Doregos Academy in lagos, who have always represented d nation at various internationally renowned science competitions nd Homat winning in 2009,nt makin d list..den i kuld say d list is nt dier yet…..go google GOGO MAYOKUN OLUWAGBENGA
this list has a problem. some schools that deserve to be here are not here the newly established day waterman college deserves to be among this list. Afterall i have friends who move from greensprings to the named school above pls research on the schools well. Late MD of GT bank built te school and you dont rank a school only by academics.
schools like BIS, AIS, CIS and DWC. this schools are one of the best in nigeria and they are part of the very few secondary schools in the council of interntional schools in nigeria.
Really .. I think christ the king catholic college odolewu should be in thiS list .. If it really based on the stuff schools are made up of . I mean it not all about facilitie and how much ure payin .. Even if ckcc still stands out in that aspect ! Waec I a plus because over the years we’ve been a great deal !!! I can alo tand for louisville girl high school too … Now thee are schools u really get training aint all ’bout d brains .. There’S more to life than that its impportant but not prime … Big ups to whoever made this list tho’
Really .. I think christ the king catholic college odolewu should be in thiS list .. If it really based on the stuff schools are made up of . I mean it not all about facilities and how much ure payin .. Even if ckcc still stands out in that aspect ! Waec is a plus because over the years we’ve been a great deal !!! I can also stand for louisville girls high school too … Now these are schools u really get training aint all ’bout d brains .. There’S more to life than that its impportant but not prime … Big ups to whoever made this list tho’
I strongly disagree with this list FEDERAL GOVERNMENT COLLEGE LAGOS is meant to be the first.
Ambassadors college ile ife should be taken into consideration dont be biased, it should not be based on popularity.
Where is Our lady of Apostle yaba lagos
Please Lagos State Model college Kankon is meant to be among the best school in Nigeriabecause we are worth it
D best skl 2 go 2 BABINGTON MACAULAY JUNIOR SEMINARY was nt included in dis list I wonder wat d criterias being used re. Wat i am a 100% sure is dat wateva dey re BMJS is more dan equal 2 task 2 show dat dey beat wateva is being used as d yardstick.
I tink Day Walterham schools shud be included.
i reli fink BABMINGTON MACAULY JUNIOR SEMINARY Should be on dat list
As a teacher, I honestly do not think we have enough data to determine the best schools in Nigeria. Simply put, Nigeria is not a data-gathering, data-processing country. Now, talking about performance in external exams (WAEC, NECO etc.), only schools with consistent outstanding results ought to be mentioned. (A school like LJC, for example, deserves mention.) This is because many private schools nowadays go to any length to make their students pass such exams. One of such schools was recently listed as having one of the best results in WAEC in Nigeria. I showed the newspaper to my colleagues in the staff room and…the rest is better imagined. Instead of talking about ‘best’ or ‘top’ schools, let’s rather focus on good ones. The facilities play a good part, but I think the true determinant is the impact such a school has on individual wards. When the school flaunts their ‘facilities’, you focus on the teachers. Do they look happy, fulfilled…or do they look demoralised, dejected and cheated? In the end, it’s the teachers that make or mar any school.
I say hi to everyone.will harvard university admission office ask for the ‘O’level result when processing their admissions?I was to told they wouldn’t,is it true?
WHY ISNT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL,UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS PART OF THE FIRST 10
this is fucked up were is olashore
