  • Kianda Foundation opened Kianda School as a result of numerous requests from past students of Kianda College. The School started in 1977 with 40 students, and now has a capacity for 900. It is a day school for girls with a Primary and Secondary section. The School has ranked among the top 10 schools in the Kenya Certificate of Seconday Education(KCSE) examination

11. Starehe Boys’ Centre and School

  • is a partial board, boys – only educational boarding school located in Nairobi Kenya.
  • is unique for a Kenyan independent school in that it educates a large proportion of its students free, and most at a reduced rate. This stems from its founding charter as a charitable school. School fees are paid on a means-tested basis, with substantial subsidies paid by the school so that students from all walks of life are able to have a comprehensive, high quality, public school education that would otherwise be beyond the means of their parents or guardians as it may be.

10. Strathmore School

  • is a private, independent, boys’ day school located in Nairobi, Kenya that follows the 8-4-4 curriculum.
  • Strathmore was started as a Sixth Form college in March 1961. In 1977 the first Form One students were admitted, and in 1987 the first Standard One pupils.
  • Today, there are around 630 students in the school with a significant number of them receiving financial aid and doing well in the KCSE exam results.

  • is an all girls secondary education institution located in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, Kenya. It was founded in 1908, originally known as European Girls’ School.     Something must be very wrong with the great Mang’u High School. Why has the school to continue bursking in the past glory while the performance is highly wanting. Position 15! This is not where the school belongs, I call upon the teachers and students to go back to the drawing board and ensure that the school resume its rightful position.

  29. This is good information for those looking for a Secondary school for the KCPE 2011 qualifiers. It would be much more helpful if only the schools were categorised as GIrls, Boys and mixed.
    The location would help too.
