- Unfortunately financial assistance is only available to permanent residents of South Africa. However, Merit bursaries are automatically awarded to deserving full-time international students from SADC-countries from their second year of study at the Kingsway Campus of UJ.
- International students from the DFC and APB-campuses who have obtained excellent scores in their first year of study at UJ should apply for these merit bursaries.
- All foreigners are eligible for Postgraduate bursaries and should apply for it.
8 University of Pretoria
- From 2008, enrolled students with citizenship in SADC countries will be considered for UP undergraduate achievement bursaries provided they meet the criteria. For UP postgraduate bursaries non-South African citizens are also considered for awards.

- Unfortunately the University does not offer financial support (bursaries, loans) for international students. Ensure that you have sufficient financial resources for the planned duration of your studies.
4 Rhodes University
- No bursaries or loans are awarded by the University’s Bursaries Committee to foreign students and you should ensure that you have sufficient funds in your own country before leaving.
- You should also make enquiries about possible financial assistance from within your own country.
- Sometimes bursaries and scholarships are available for study in other countries. You should contact foreign embassies or funding agencies in your own country.
