Scholarship Overview

  • The University of Sheffield, in collaboration with the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust and the Sheffield Institute for International Development, is offering 10 scholarships (over three years) for international students from developing countries.
  • Through this scholarship, academically talented individuals from developing countries have the opportunity to pursue a number of courses that are affiliated with the Sheffield Institute for International Development.

  • South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Swaziland, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan,
  • Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Togo, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan,
  • Vanuatu, Vietnam, West Bank and Gaza Strip, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Am I Eligible to Apply?        

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  1. Hold an offer for one of the courses listed above to study at the University of Sheffield in 2021 by a deadline to be confirmed
  2. Be a national of or permanently domiciled in one of the countries or territories listed above
  3. Be classified as an overseas student for tuition fee purposes.
  4. Be self-funded to receive this award, i.e. not funded by a research council, government, private enterprise, charity, or any similar organization.
  5. Be a full-time student.
  6. Be ready to begin your studies at the University of Sheffield in 2021. This scholarship cannot be deferred.
  7. Be ready to successfully meet any condition(s) attached to your offer before the deadline provided by the Admissions Service.
  8. Have received a visa to study at the University in September 2021.

How Do I Apply – Next Steps

  • If you receive an offer to pursue one of the eligible courses and you are a national of or a permanent resident of one of the eligible countries or territories, you will be automatically considered for this scholarship.
  • Your course application will then be assessed by a panel of academic judges to decide whether or not you will progress to the final stage of the application process.
