Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals

  • The Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals aims to develop future global leaders who will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and contribute to positive and sustainable development in their home countries and region.
  • This scholarship program is funded by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

 Scholarship Overview

  • The Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals targets individuals with ambition, leadership experience, and a strong professional background.
  • This is a fully-funded international scholarship program for master’s studies in Sweden.

Host School(s)

  • Swedish Universities and Higher Education Institutions

Field(s) of Study

  • 700 master’s programs taught in English starting in the autumn semester of 2023 are eligible for an SI scholarship.
  • These programs are listed on the Swedish Institute website.

What does the scholarship cover?

  • Tuition fees paid directly to the university by the Swedish Institute
  • Living expenses of SEK 11,000 per month
  • A travel grant of SEK 15,000 given as a one-time payment
  • Membership of the SI Network for Future Global Leaders (NFGL) – a platform to help with professional growth and building of networks while in Sweden
  • Membership of the SI Alumni Network after the scholarship period
  • Insurance against illness and accident

How many scholarships are given?

  • 350 scholarships will be available for full-time master’s degree studies

  • Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Belarus, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon,
  • Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Guatemala,
  • Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Moldova, Morocco,
  • Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Sri Lanka,
  • Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia,  Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Am I Eligible to Apply?

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a citizen of a country listed as eligible for the scholarship program
  • Have a minimum of 3000 hours of demonstrated work experience
  • Be liable to pay fees to Swedish higher education institutions or universities
  • Have followed all the steps to university admission
  • Have been admitted to one of the eligible master’s programs by 30th March 2023
  • Should be able to demonstrate leadership experience from either a current or previous employer or civil society

How do I Apply – Next Steps

  • First, you must apply for and secure a place in a master’s program in Sweden by 16 January 2023.
  • Next, apply for the Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals.
  • Selection results will be finalized by 30 March 2023.
  • Wait for the final announcement listing the 350 successful applicants.
