Am I Eligible to Apply?
To qualify for this scholarship, you should:
- Have qualified for admission to Makerere University’s main campus for an undergraduate degree program under the Private Sponsorship Scheme.
- Have completed Advanced Level education (or its equivalent) in an African country.
- Display significant financial hardship.
- Demonstrate leadership potential and a record of community service.
- Not be a holder of any other scholarship.
- Not have registered for or completed any other undergraduate degree program.
- Not be over 28 years of age when applying for the scholarship.
- Not be over 32 years of age if applying under the categories of refugees and students with disabilities.
- Be a recognized and registered refugee with proof (refugee attestation) if applying for the scholarship as a refugee.
How Do I Apply – Next Steps
- You must first apply for admission to Makerere University for an undergraduate degree under the Private Sponsorship Scheme. Only students who meet the minimum requirements for admission to the University can apply for the scholarship.
- Next, fill the scholarship application form. The forms can be obtained as follows:
- Get a physical/hard copy form from the office of the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Programme at the University, located at Plot 144, Makerere University (opposite the College of Computing and Information Sciences).
- Download the application form from the website indicated below.
- Apply directly via the application portal on the website.
- Once you have filled out the form, you can submit it by:
- Hand delivering the hard copy form to the MCFSP at Makerere University Offices.
- Sending a scanned copy of the scholarship application form and all the other documents (scanned and attached as one document) to makscholarsapplications@gmail.com.
- Applying online and submitting the application form and copies of all the required documents directly.

- The application form is not for sale and no payments should be made by the applicant at any stage of the selection process.
- Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for further selection engagements.
