Scholarship Overview

The Princeton University Aid Program is designed to encourage all students who qualify for a place at Princeton to apply for admission regardless of their financial status.
Admission to Princeton is need-blind, meaning that there is no disadvantage in the admission process for applicants who need financial aid. Anyone who is offered admission will have 100% of their demonstration financial need met by grant aid. This policy applies to local and international students.
Princeton determines a family’s ability to pay for the course using their own need formula. Also, this university applies a no-loan policy when giving financial aid, meaning that students receive grant aid rather than loans. The students do not need to pay back the grant aid, making it possible for them to graduate with little or no debt.

What does the scholarship cover?

Princeton University will meet up to 100% of demonstrated financial need, guided by the following principles.
- Admission is need-blind for all applicants. This applies to international students as well.
- Financial aid is awarded based on need. There are no academic and athletic merit scholarships given.
- Need is determined through a review of each family’s individual financial circumstances.
- The full need of every student who is admitted is met through grants.

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

Have met all the eligibility requirements for your chosen undergraduate program
Have completed high school with a GPA of 3.5 and above
Take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS Academic), or the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) if English is not your native language. (You will not be required to take the TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE Academic if English is your native language or if you have spent at least three years at a secondary school where English is the primary language of instruction.)
Have distinctive academic and extracurricular talents and achievements.

To complete the Princeton Financial Aid Application, you must first apply for admission and create your Princeton Applicant Portal account.
Submit the following for your application for admission:
1. A completed application
1. Princeton Supplement
1. Application fee or fee waiver
1. Graded written paper

Supporting Documents

An official transcript to be sent by a school counselor or school official.
School Report (SR) – filled by your school counselor or school official. If you are using the Coalition Application, the SR and counselor recommendation are uploaded as one item.
Counselor Recommendation – filled by your school counselor.
Two (2) Teacher Recommendations – filled bytwo of your teachers who have taught you in higher-level courses (e.g. AP, IB Higher/Standard Level, A-levels, etc.) in different academic areas of study. The subjects should be in core academic areas, such as English, foreign language, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, or math.
Mid-year School Report – filled by your school counselor or school official when your mid-year grades are available.
