The best way to grade schools is by looking at the people in the society that are at the pinnacles of success with high rectitude of conduct and integrity and knowing what secondary schools they escavated from.

  3. percy says

    January 8, 2010 at 5:46 am

well, every school claim to be the best which the actually are, feel the best, come from the best, and always be the BEST. The grading dont matter but what matters must is how this so called best secondary schools can change this country. COMMAND SECONDARY SCHOOL JOS mos’nt be in the grading because we grade schools just like what that dude did. “may be he must be an ex-comando.” nice concept.

Did I mention a Dinning hall, and each of the houses contain at least 3 houses and Green lawns as ‘a matter of rule’…everything about the school is over sized and I think this talk of comparing the school to CKC/Christ the King College and Kings College overdue and unnecessary. These two school have produced ‘greats’ but only one of the three has the ‘truly greats’. The other day I went to Salomon Brothers (Currency Champions) and was happy to find some blacks (Nigerians) still around and many of them were among this so called Umuahians Old boys…one only from CKC.

  9. Wilfred Obotong says

    August 31, 2009 at 7:18 pm

I think Government college Umuahia is its prime and in many decades was the best and trully ‘most high’ school in Nigeria. The school is seriously indisrepute but how can any state maintain or any government in Africa maintain a secondary school with lawn tennis courts, with cricket ball field, with 5 and then 11 power boarding houses, two majestic assembly hall not even available in some Universities in Nigeria, A.D blocks, two big fields including a mini stadium, a golf course, a fine arts studios, two chemistry labs, prefects council block, School captain’s (S.P) office, an ever green quardrangle, y juctions with a tarred road leading to the Masters/teachers quarters, then principal quarters which is a duplex, school tailor’s house and office, school museum, police headquarters, School farms, badminton court, the Library, Administrative Block and classical music hall, School Court (abandoned) and for the many years provided the background to African literature…Gabriel Okara, Chinua Achebe, Christopher Okidigbo, Elechi Amadi and so on. Government college umuahia is not in the same category with many of the above mentioned new schools and as much the academic power of the school has faded with its tradition, Government college umuahia has been there and done that and perhaps LOYOLA can have a say if it can hold to its new energy and eventually make to the top of ten for half a century. Like the umuahian spirit speak quitely of Government college Umuahia (Robert Fisher High School). Keep shining

Where did you get Negbenebor from? What was the criteria for selection? It is difficult to select best secondry schools in Nigeria. It should be done by best schools in the states. The list should definetly include Immaculate Conception College (ICC) Benin. The best school in the state.
