10. Pope John Senior High School
- P.O Box 370. Effiduase – Koforidua, Ghana
- as it is affectionately called is in Accra, capital city of the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It is a boys school with a population of about1300 students. The school has accommodation facilities for almost all the students. The students age ranges between 14 to 18 years. The school is highly competitive in the current upward trend of the country. It is well known for producing some of the brightest students and has a firm alumni base.

6. Wesley Girls’ High School (Wey Gey Hey)
- a prestigious educational institution for girls, was named after the founder of Methodism, John Wesley. The school was established in 1836 with 25 girls by the wife of a Methodist Minister. It started as a primary school with the aim of offering girls proper training in reading and writing, sewing and house-keeping and more especially in moral and spiritual development. In spite of its staggered history of collapse and revival, the school survived and graduated into a secondary institution. From such humble beginnings, the school is now one of the leading schools in the country.

5. St. Augustine College (Augusco)
- The school was founded in 1930 initially to train teachers. It is now a senior secondary school. There are about 1500 boys, aged between 12 and 19 years. It has 60 full-time and 6 part-time teachers along with about 80 non-teaching staff. The headmaster and his two assistants have direct oversight of the school’s administration.
- As Adisadel College looks towards it’s 100th birthday in 2010 it is worth noting that this institution has not only made itself felt but actually contributed its share to the development and progress of the nation in diverse ways.
- Over the years, the School has turned out into the world a steady stream of keen, capable young men, filled with enthusiasm and dedicated to the service of the country and of mankind – men who have contributed and continue to contribute their quota to the enrichment of the life of the nation, in practically all fields of human endeavour. This can be attributed to the life-long preparations given to it’s students through education.
3. Prempeh
- Prempeh College, the Asante Royal Boarding School for Boys of all ethnic backgrounds is the Kings College of Ghana. Founded in 1949 by Asantehene Sir Osei Agyemang Prempeh II, it is located in a surburb of Kumasi (the Ashanti Regional capital) called Sofoline.
- The mission of Prempeh College is to serve the community, the nation, and the world by educating and preparing students to discharge the offices of life with usefulness and reputation. We do this through a partnership of students and teachers in a unified community known as a college.
- On a gentle hill to the north as one enters Accra by the Kaneshie-Mallam, a tall white tower beshadows the campus of Accra Academy.

The recently appointed youngest ever Barclays bank manager for west Africa , the youngest ever Tigo regional manager who is responsible for Ashanti Region of just about 24 yrs old, a parliamentarian in Great Britain Mr. Paul Boateng , Chriss Attoh, Nana Asamoah Gyan- the Black Stars fame, and soo many others which u can know provided you read wide… I am a girl from St. Louis but lets face facts Accra Academy should be first for at least the next ten years. why are most of you people judging the best school according to the National Science and Maths Quiz? that is not the only criteria for determining the best school in Ghana. No! certainly not!! it has to do with the alumni, da wassce, other quizes like “What do you know?”, Business competitions, debating, drama, art and the rest. Im a fully bred Bleoo boy but i think presec deserve the spot this year.kudos to them for it’s only temporary…. Bleoo will certainly be back at that spot.

And what makes some guys think some schools from small cities, towns and villages are better than those in the nation’s capital. When was the last time a sitting president or vice president took his ward to any shs in Ghana? The only shs which could give better education and better security in the boarding house to a sitting vice president’s son was Accra Academy. Can any shs i GH boast of even an MP in the UK parliament not to talk of a “lord” @ the Britsh House of Commons and Cabinet minister in the erstwhile Tony Blair’s gov’t? broaden ur horizon and stop this trash abt quinas and shid. Can quinas boast of any prominent individual in Ghana not to even talk of internationally recognised 1. I think the local petty rivalry we’ve been having with them @ INTERCO makes them think we r in the same category. We may be second in Ghana by those who ranked in Ghana but the rankings for the entire continent places us eighth on the continent and 1st in Ghana. These local champions whose only achievements have come from poorly organised local competitions like the maths and science quizz must shut up and know that what matters most is what becomes of you after school and not the kind of cheap achievements you make whiles in your “bush schools” which cannot even be located on the radar of africa’s best 10000000 high schools.Sit up !!
